Artists
Meet our resident Artists.
Beyond their own success, they are deeply committed to mentoring and training emerging artists, generously passing on skills, knowledge, and cultural practices. Through hands-on guidance and shared creation, they are helping to shape and strengthen the next generation of creative voices.
Fine Art – Metal & Ceramic Sculptures
Gickmai Kundun
“I was born to be an Artist. As far back as I can remember, it is all I ever wanted to do. I can still remember pinching a piece of red chalk and being so afraid that I would get in trouble. I hid in a little cave in my village and used that chalk to trace my hand on a wall. It remains there until today."
Fine art - Water Colour, Acrylic & Mixed Medium
Dennis Livinai
"My style gives my vision and expression depth. These are interpretations, fragments, glimpses and flashes of memory and thoughts in my mind's eye. I can see the future, the present and the past. When I am caught in that moment, my dinner goes cold. I lose sense of time and am in another dimension. There is no beginning and no end. An inter-dimensional existence."
Fine Art - Acrylic Paint, Metal & Wood
Tom Deko
"It has never been my intention or even a consideration to deviate or walk another path. I want to create art every time, because I love it. When I start a painting, I want the end result to be what I want others to see. I visualise myself as the viewer and paint with the intent that they see what they want to see, through my eyes."

Amos Inau
Sculptures & Pottery
One morning, I met James Kundun (son of Gickmai Kundun) and he took me the Kundun’s house. Father Gickmai took care of me and took me to C.A.I. Without any formal education and experience, I started to learn. He taught me how to handle tools and become a creative youth. I am proud of father Gickmai for having me as his son, mentoring and teaching me to become a skillful person.

Ambane Umba
Sculptures & Pottery
I was callled by Gickmai Kundun to go with him to a place called C.A.I at 8mile. Here Gickmai taught me the skills and knowledge of doing artworks using scrap metals and clay. I had no idea at first but I was amazed with the artworks and creative ideas. All of a sudden, I was producing something that I have never done before. I love to thank father Gickmai for the talents he taught me because it’s a life-time knowledge.
