NCC Event: Celebrating Culture, Creativity, and Community at CAI

The Centre for Arts & Innovation (CAI) recently welcomed artists, cultural leaders, government representatives, development partners, and members of the public for a memorable day celebrating Papua New Guinea's rich artistic heritage and the achievements of our growing creative community.

Our National Cultural Commission (NCC) Certificate Recognition Ceremony marked an important milestone for the Centre. More than simply recognising accomplishments, the event celebrated the artists whose talent, dedication, and cultural knowledge continue to preserve and promote Papua New Guinea's unique identity.

Distinguished Guests and Strong Community Support

We were honoured to host an exceptional group of guests, including:

  • Her Excellency Georgina Roberts, New Zealand High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea
  • His Excellency Jackson Bernard Nato Evans, Fiji High Commissioner
  • Naomi Suzuki-Mochizuki, spouse of the Japanese Ambassador to Papua New Guinea
  • Officials from the National Cultural Commission (NCC)
  • Representatives from the National Capital District Commission (NCDC), including ward councillors
  • Representatives from the All Nations Women's Group
  • Artists, partners, stakeholders, customers, supporters, and members of the wider community

Their presence demonstrated the growing recognition of the important role that arts and culture play in strengthening communities and creating opportunities for Papua New Guinean artists.

A Showcase of Papua New Guinea's Creative Excellence

Throughout the Centre, visitors explored dedicated exhibition spaces where each artist proudly presented their own work. Every display reflected the diversity, traditions, stories, and creativity that make Papua New Guinea's artistic landscape so unique.

Guests praised both the quality of the artworks and the thoughtful presentation of the cultural displays. The New Zealand High Commission expressed particular appreciation for the Centre's vision and the professionalism of the exhibition, recognising the outstanding efforts of our artists and staff.

One of the highlights of the event was a speech delivered by Her Excellency Georgina Roberts in her native language, adding a personal and memorable touch that resonated with attendees and further celebrated the spirit of cultural exchange.

Building New Connections

For many visitors, this was their first experience at the Centre for Arts & Innovation. They were pleasantly surprised to discover the breadth of artistic talent being nurtured within the Centre and expressed genuine interest in our programs and future initiatives.

The event created valuable opportunities to connect artists with new audiences, strengthen relationships with partners, and introduce more people to CAI's mission of supporting creative industries and preserving Papua New Guinea's cultural heritage.

Thank You

This successful event would not have been possible without the support of our many partners and guests.

Most importantly, we thank our talented artists and team members. Your creativity, passion, and dedication are the heart of the Centre for Arts & Innovation. Every artwork shared, every story told, and every cultural tradition celebrated helps preserve Papua New Guinea's rich heritage for future generations.

We look forward to welcoming even more artists, partners, and visitors as we continue this exciting journey together.
